Description: Grade 5 students had an exciting flower dissection activity under the chapter "How Plants Grow." This hands-on exploration helped them understand plant reproduction and the essential components involved in the process. During the activity, students carefully dissected fresh flower specimens using tools like scissors and tweezers. They focused on identifying key components such as petals, sepals, stamens (including anthers and filaments), and pistil (including stigma, style, and ovary). This exploration enabled students to learn about each part's role in the reproduction process. For example, they discovered how petals attract pollinators, and stamens produce pollen. Moreover, the activity fostered critical thinking and observation skills as students compared flower structures across different plant species. They also discussed the significance of pollination and the various methods by which plants achieve it, including wind, insects, and other means. The activity was engaging and informative experience for the students. It enhanced their knowledge of plant growth and reproduction while nurturing their appreciation for the natural world around them.
